What it entails?

The incumbent will be involved in managing a claim from the start through to settlement, making critical decisions on the extent and validity of a claim, and checking for any potential fraudulent activity. In this role, you will ensure the smooth coordination of joint surveys while helping us maintain high standards of customer satisfaction. Together with an in-house team, it offers you a unique opportunity to scale up our Claims & Loss Adjustment.

A successful claims handler combines strong analytical expertise with emotional intelligence to resolve complex insurance disputes efficiently. As we support policyholders through stressful life events, our approach plays a key role in shaping the customer experience.

Job Duties:

  • Manage claim files from initial notification through to closure, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve claims handling efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  •  Understand the assigned job together with any other requirements as requested by the client and guided by internal work instructions.
  • Establishing contacts with Insured/insurers/consignee and brokers to achieve prompt survey attendance/site visits and timely conclusion of claims.
  • Organize and oversee joint surveys to ensure accuracy, thoroughness and timely completion of on-site investigations and damage surveys for claims
  • Lead, train, and mentor a team of cargo surveyors, ensuring high performance and adherence to company standards.
  • Conduct thorough assessments, gather evidence, interview witnesses, and determine coverage and liable party.
  • Coordinate claim surveys for clients in collaboration with our regional network of seasoned surveyors
  • Providing reports to clients in standard format and in accordance with corporate quality programs, policies and procedures within agreed timescales.
  • Interpret policy wordings and applicable maritime laws, the facts of loss in conjunction with field surveyors’ feedback in order to establish best claims handling approach and make sound coverage decisions
  • Use sound communication skills to successfully negotiate recoveries with third parties whilst maintaining accurate account of salvage activity
  • Develop individual performance metrics and drive commitment to and maintenance of outstanding performance.
  • Actively contribute towards achievement of company business objectives.
  • Always comply to applicable safety rules and operational procedures
  • Network, identify, explore and facilitate opportunities for business growth

Job Requirement:

  • Minimum of a Degree in any technical field with three (3) years progressive experience preferable in either Engineering, Claims Handling, Logistics, Insurance as well Marine Cargo Inspection.
  • Thorough, observant and attentive to detail.
  • Methodical, with an investigative approach to gathering information.
  • Excellent communicators, both verbally and in writing with good command of English
  • Good time managers, negotiators, tactful, assertive and persuasive
  • Able to develop strong relationships both internally and externally is imperative
